Private Individuals and Estates
We work with individuals, families, and organizations to document and appraise everything from a single object to extensive estates and corporate collections.
Many of our clients are families and individuals seeking to better organize and preserve the history, value, and provenance of their belongings. Creating a clear record of important items can provide peace of mind and help lessen the stress, uncertainty, and burden placed on loved ones in the future.
Our services are designed to thoughtfully document collections and valuables with care, discretion, and respect — whether for insurance, estate planning, charitable donations, family distribution, or simply preserving the stories connected to meaningful objects.
We provide professional, confidential appraisal services for fine art, antiques, collectibles, and archaeological specimens/antiquities. Most clients seek appraisals when adding objects to their insurance policies, as accurate and professionally prepared reports are essential in the event of loss or damage claims. Clients also rely on our services when selling, loaning, donating, or simply determining the value of items in their collections.
Knowing what you own is the first step in the management of personal property. We conduct full or partial inventories of personal property. Inventories can range in complexity from a simple presence/absence inventory to a full and complete inventory including the following options: cataloging, photography, condition reporting, and housing for objects going into storage.
We conduct accurate and informative condition assessments of each object identifying all current condition issues. This service is offered on a per object basis or a collection of objects, whether for insurance, sale, posterity or when offering objects for donation or loan. While we do not provide conservation services directly, we draw on a network of object conservators we have worked with and can coordinate consultation as needed.
We offer professional photography services, so your objects are well documented with high-resolution images. We also scan archival materials and organize them in a logical file tree. Archives include documents, photographs and ephemera (such as diaries, newspaper clippings, certificates, tickets, brochures, old business papers, scrapbooks, and the like).
Ensuring your objects, documents, photographs and ephemera are properly housed will extend their current condition well into the future. We offer appropriate housing for all objects and archival materials.
